Eckstein Band News
A special thanks to all of you who have supported the band this year through your time and effort or financially.
Your efforts and contributions help make this band program even more special for your student and are greatly appreciated by the Band Directors and the Friends of the Band.
Our Instruments for Kids Campaign is off to a great start. Your financial support has made the band campaign a real success so far. We've made a great start but still have a ways to go to reach our goal. If you'd like more information about the campaign or to make a year-end charitable donation to the campaign, please go to the Fundraising page. PIANO AND OTHER INSTRUMENTS: Do you or someone you know have an instrument that has not been played for some time? Rather than allow it to gather dust, consider donating it to Eckstein so a student can learn how to make it sing again. Many in-kind donations can be as tax deductible as cash donations. Please contact Mr E if you have an instrument that might make an excellent addition to the band program at Eckstein. ANOTHER ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR ECKSTEIN BAND!
Our Eckstein teachers and students are recognized nationally for musical excellence and your child is a rising star in the big show!
Confidence, self-esteem and teamwork is evident in all our students. They know that being in Senior Jazz Band or Wind Ensemble is a privilege that demands hard work and strong academic performance in other classes. Music students rise to the occasion at Eckstein and their teachers inspire them to do so. MUSIC IS MAKING OUR KIDS SMARTER!
In a 1999 Columbia University study, students in the arts were found to be more cooperative with teachers and peers, more
self-confident, and better able to express their ideas. These benefits exist across socioeconomic levels.
The Arts Education Partnership
College admissions officers continue to cite participation in music as an important factor in making admissions decisions. They claim that music participation demonstrates time management, creativity, expression, and open-mindedness. Carl Hartman, Arts May Improve Students' Grades. The Associated Press, October, 1999 AND OUR KIDS APPRECIATE ECKSTEIN MUSIC
"I am so happy and fortunate to have you as a band director. Band has always been my favorite class, not just because I love
jazz but because I know that every day you are working your hardest to make music fun and enjoyable for me and everyone at Eckstein.
It has been so fun being in your band!" Scotty, student
Thank you for supporting The Friends of Eckstein Bands!
