Andrea Malott-Math, room 130

Jessica Levine-Science, room 112

TEAM OBJECTIVES
Provide a smaller caring community within the larger school
Provide common behavior expectations for students
Provide common latework policy for homework
Provide a team approach in monitoring academic progress
Coordinate and share with exploratory teachers
Coordinate interdisciplinary learning
Communicate as a team with parents

EXPECTATIONS
Homeroom
This time is used for school business, academic mentoring, goal setting, and preparation for the day’s classes. Students will read, check homework, makeup tests, and get help from teachers and other students. Students must have a book for daily reading at all times including homeroom.

Tardy
All 6th graders must be in their assigned seat at the bell for homeroom and all classes.

Homework
All students will record assignments in the Eckstein Daily Agenda/Planner. Some teachers will require additional assignments sheets. Students are responsible for getting missed assignments due to absence. The best time to collect this work is before or during homeroom so the student has some preparation before class lesson. We are all available after school with notice.

TYPICAL WEEK OF HOMEWORK
Language Arts 1-2 days (Reading Log ½ hour daily or 3 ½ hours per week)
Math 5 days
Social Studies 1- 2 days

Project schedules and deadlines will be recorded in the Eckstein Agenda/Planner

TEAM CONTRACT
RESPECT SELF
Do your best on all assignments

Get your work in on time
RESPECT OTHERS
Do not tease or harass others

Do not disrupt class lessons

Be ready for class (on time, work ready)

RESPECT SCHOOL
Take care of school property

GETTING HELP
Students:

If you are a student who needs help on an assignment, see your teacher before or after school. With 30 students in a class, your class time will be limited. Before homeroom starts, arrange a time with the teacher that day. Sometimes, just 10 minutes of individual help will make a big difference. More extended time can be arranged after school.

Parents:

Assignment sheets and Daily Agenda/ Planner are for both parents and students. This data is recorded for all core classes and will be a resource for you and your child. If assignments are not being recorded, remind your child to update the assignment data before or after school or during homeroom.
Students should have a nightly homework routine. Time spent will vary. Contact the teacher if the homework seems excessive for your child. Contact the teacher if your child does not bring any work home or has no assignment data recorded.

OST Team 6C Homework Center will be held twice a week after school with bus transportation. Look for start dates/times October 3. This is a team homework center.

Telephone Conference: Sometimes just a call to a teacher will solve a problem. We can be reached during our planning period, 10:10-10:45 or after 2:20.. 252-5010

Email is the best method of contacting us. See email addresses above.

ammalott@seattleschools.org

Conference:
Teachers and parents are partners in helping students succeed. If you see that your child is not progressing or is having trouble in any area, please arrange a conference with our
6th grade counselor, Dan Rosen, 252-5010

Advice: EAT BREAKFAST- GET ENOUGH SLEEP -HAVE FUN
