Eckstein Middle School Overview

Eckstein is located in Seattle, Washington and is part of the Seattle Public Schools.

Eckstein Jr. High first opened in 1950 and was named in honor of Nathan Eckstein and later became a middle school serving nearly 1400 students in grades six - eight. Each grade is divided into interdisciplinary teams of teachers from the core subject areas.

Eckstein offers a variety of elective courses, include art, computer applications, foreign language, music, and more. In addition, we provide a wealth of other activities through the After Schools Activity Program.

We are currently working on a transformation plan to improve the learning environment for students. In 2000, Eckstein became the first Seattle middle school to have a technology plan approved, which has led to substantial growth in the acquisition and usage of technology in recent years. We have two full computer labs a 5:1 student to computer ratio.
